Hey fellow inventors —
@AndyKatz here! Starting a new thread to share and collect real, useful AI tools that can help us invent smarter, faster, and with fewer roadblocks.
AI is changing the game for inventors. Whether you’re prototyping, researching, designing, pitching, or protecting your idea, there’s probably an AI tool out there that can help you move quicker (and spend less
).
Below are a few I’ve used or explored recently. Feel free to add your own in the comments, or if you’re curious how something might help with your invention, just tag me and I’ll be happy to help!
A Few AI Tools Worth Exploring:
1. ChatGPT — by OpenAI
The Swiss Army knife for inventors. I use it to:
- Draft NDAs, outreach messages, and licensing emails
- Brainstorm names, slogans, and branding ideas
- Turn sketches into spec lists or marketing copy
- Research markets or prep pitch materials
You can even ask it to role-play as an investor or licensing exec and practice your pitch. ![]()
2. Tome — AI-Powered Presentations
Need a quick, beautiful pitch deck? Tome turns simple prompts into visual stories with images, layout, and text all handled for you. Great for showcasing your invention without needing a designer.
3. Uizard — Turn Hand Drawings into App Prototypes
Perfect if your invention has a digital/app component. Draw a sketch, upload it, and get a working UI mockup. Super useful for wireframes and prototypes.
4. Perplexity AI — Research with Cited Sources
Think of it as a research assistant. It pulls in summaries, answers, and citations. I use it for:
- Patent and prior art research
- Market comparisons
- Competitor analysis
Way faster (and cleaner) than a Google deep dive.
5. Image Generators like DALL·E or Midjourney
Great for concept art, packaging ideas, product mockups, or showing potential uses of your invention. Even if you’re early-stage, visuals make a big impact.
